GUIDELINES FOR CLEARING VEGETATION ALONG FIRE ROADS,
DIRT ROADS, PRIVATE WAYS AND DRIVEWAYS

• Roadways and driveways shall not be less than 8 feet wide
   
• Brush, shrubs, trees, branches and other woody vegetation will be removed from the rectangular area bordered by imaginary lines no less than 3 feet horizontally from both sides of the roadway and driveway and no less than 14 feet vertically from the road level, to result in a passage cleared to 14 feet wide by 14 feet high.
   
• Vegetation shall not encroach on a roadway or driveway further than 12 feet in width or height without being brushed back as above.
   
• Certain sections of roadways and driveways may require custom standards. These sections include, but are not limited to: intersections, sharp corners, turn-a-rounds, cul-de-sacs and areas near water sources. Standards for these areas on a case-by case basis will be identified by the Fire Chief or his designee.
